Live A Little shows that the band's still got it. Kristi Callan sings as passionately as ever, with a voice that sounds like nobody else's. Callan has always sung very discretely (as opposed to discreetly), her songs almost sounding at times like pop hymnals, as evidenced by the exquisite "I'll Get You Back", a warm, passionate, circular ballad which displays Kristi's immpressive vocal range. Wednesday Week fans will feel warm fuzzies when they hear "Hold Me Back" and "Zillion Stars", both containing that band's signature crunchy guitar and great chord changes. Other cool tracks are the Conquistador like "Dog", the L.A. meets the Middle East "The Same", and the Peneope Houstonesque "Feel Better".
If you are in the L.A. area over the next few months, make it a point to catch a Lucky gig, and in the meantime, make the purchase of Live A Little a priority.
